Dhaka, January 24, 2010: 

The Pro-Am event of the American Express Bangladesh Open 2010 witnessed amateur golfers from Dhaka tee-off alongside some of the top professional golfers of the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI).

The Pro-Am was played in the team scramble format where the team’s best ball was chosen on every shot including the putting green. After the best ball was chosen all other players were to place their ball within one scorecard length before continuing play.

Bangladeshi professional and PGTI member Md Rezaul Karim led his team to victory with a score of 54.6. Karim’s team comprised of amateurs Mrs Rashna Rahman, Maj S K Yousuf Riza and Col S M Showakat Ali.

Shahid, another Bangladeshi professional and PGTI member, helped his team finish second with a score of 55.1. Shahid’s team comprised of amateurs Mr Sanjay Prakash and Mr Kareem.

The prize for the longest drive on hole no. 17 was bagged by Maj S K Yousuf Riza who came up with a 256 yard drive.

Mr. Arsalan Rahman and Mr. Fahad Bin Tariq won the closest to the pin contests on hole numbers 6 and 12 respectively. While Arsalan Rahman’s shot was four feet and 11 inches from the pin, Fahad Bin Tariq’s shot landed two feet and six inches from the pin.
