Conditions of Competition 2009-2010

All Club tournaments other than BAGC (Stroke play or Stable ford competitions only)

1. Eligibility – Following players will be eligible for registering for any Tournament.

a.All members of KGC with valid handicap.

b Members of other clubs as per quota set by KGC.

c. Sponsors Guest  having valid handicap.

d. Any of KGC Committee having valid handicap.

e Non members with valid handicap at the discretion of the KGC Committee.

f. Any Lady or junior golfer with valid handicap.

 

2. Specification of clubs and balls — Confirming  to the latest list as found in R & A  website  www.randa.org 

3. Groups (Rule  6-3 b ) — The competitor  must remain in the group arranged by the Committee unless the Committee authorizes or ratifies a change.      

4. Time of starting (Note  to  rule  6-3a) – If the player arrives at his starting point, ready to play, within five minutes after his starting time, in the absence of circumstances that warrant waiving the penalty of   disqualification as provided in the Rule  33-7, the penalty for failure to start on time is loss of two strokes in stroke play. Penalty for lateness beyond five minutes is disqualification/two strokes penalty subject to the discretion of the committee.

5. Caddie (Note to Rule  6-4) -  It is permitted for a player to use a caddie provided he/she has only one  Caddie at any one time.

6. Pace of Play (Note  2  to Rule  6-7) --  Marshals placed on the course will monitor pace of play for the purpose of preventing slow play. A Warning for breach of this rule will be given after which penalties will be applied as under :

First offence -- One Stroke

Second offence -- Two Storkes

For Subsequence offence -- Disqualification.

    Note : Slow play will mean a clear hole between two groups.

7. Suspension of Play Due to a dangerous Situation (Note  to  Rule 6-8b) – When the Committee for a dangerous situation suspends play, if the players in a match or group are between the play of two holes, they must not  resume play until the Committee has ordered a resumption of play. If they are in the  process  of playing hole, they must discontinue play immediately  and  not resume until the Committee has ordered a resumption of play. If a player  fails to discontinue play immediately, he is disqualified, unless circumstances warrant waiving the penalty as provided in Rule 33-7.

8. Advice in Team Competitions (Note to Rule 8) – In accordance with the Note to Rule 8 of the Rules of Golf , each team may appoint one person (in addition to the person from whom may be asked under that Rule) who may give advice to members of that team. Such person must be identified to the Committee before giving advice.

9. Transportation  -   Players must not ride on any form of transportation during a stipulated round unless authorized by the committee.

10. Ties  -   In the event of a tie in a handicap stroke play competition matching of scorecards will be adopted. The method to determine the winner will be on the basis of the best score for the last nine holes. If the tying players have the same score for the last nine, determination will be on the basis of the last six holes, last three holes and finally the 18th hole. For individual stroke play, if the last nine, last six, last three holes scenario is used, one-half, one-third, one sixth, etc. of the handicaps will be deducted from the score for those holes. Should a winner still not be decided then a tie will be declared.

11. Mobile  Phones  -   Use of Mobile phones during any competition is strictly prohibited and may lead to disqualification after a warning.

             Note : Scoring in Stroke play.

            Competitor’s responsibilities :

  1. To ensure that the correct handicap is recorded on the scorecard before it is returned to the Committee.
  2. To check  the gross score recorded for each hole is correct.
  3. To ensure that the marker has signed the card and to countersign the card himself before it is returned to the Committee.

 

Committee’s Responsibilities :

  1. Issue to each competitor a scorecard containing the date and the competitor‘s name.
  2. To add the scores for each hole and apply the handicap recorded on the card.
